Coriolanus is a hero of Rome and people are just crazy about his bravery. But his extreme views are despised by many and even cause a mass riot in the city. The same people who once lauded him are now thirsty for blood and want him banished from the city.

It is not just the smart politicians who hatch a plot against Coriolanus and get him expelled from Rome, even his mother Volumina supports his extradition. This hurts Coriolanus so much that he shakes hands with his enemy Tullus Aufidus, who also happens to be an enemy of the City of Rome. Aufidus takes this opportunity to take help from Coriolanus and use him to march on Rome and conquer it. His mother, knowing of this treachery, appeals to her son who does not pay heed to her advice.

However, at the final moment, he finds himself torn apart between his love for his people and the city and his loyalty to his new master Tullus.
